We believe that the key to providing superior hospice care is ongoing learning.
Casa de la Luz Hospice is committed to providing
education and support to our community of both healthcare
professionals and the public. Casa has a long history of
learning and teaching others how to take better care of dying
patients and those who love them. We publish educational
resource materials, Safe Passage and the Care Companion, and
offer hospice courses for physicians, nurses, counselors,
volunteers, and caregivers. For the healthcare professional,
CEUs, CMEs, and CEs are available. For Assisted Living
Managers, we provide classes that have been approved by the
Arizona Board of Examiners.

Casa de la Luz Honors Veterans
Casa de la Luz Hospice is a
proud Level 1 partner in the national We Honor Vets program. The
program is a collaboration between the National Hospice and
Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veteran Affairs.
As a partner, Casa de la Luz
is committed to educating our staff about caring for veteran
patients at the end of life, collaborating with the Southern
Arizona VA Health Care System and local veteran outreach
organizations, and honoring our nation’s veterans.
Through
the support of the Casa de la Luz Foundation, we are happy
to have the opportunity to present each of our veteran
patients with a framed certificate of appreciation as well
as a blanket with their service branch emblem woven into it.
These honor ceremonies are deeply meaningful to the patient
and their loved ones, as well as the Casa de la Luz staff.
It is our privilege to care for and honor our veterans.

Support Hospice Care – Write Your Congressman!
Proposed cuts to the Medicare hospice benefit – if enacted –
will affect the way hospices nationwide are able to provide
care to patients, families and the community. A reduction in
reimbursement over the next three years could impact
staffing levels (patient to staff ratio); availability of
care for the uninsured; extra services like massage, music
and pet therapy; important community outreach programs such
as bereavement services and professional/medical education.
more detailed information that may help you understand the
impact of the proposed cuts on Casa de la Luz Hospice and
hospices across the nation.
How Can You Help?
We encourage you to share your hospice story with your
congressman. Nothing is more compelling than real life
stories from those who have experienced hospice care!
Please tell them why you feel hospice care was important to
your family and then ask them to block cuts to the Medicare
Hospice Benefits budget now and in the future.
Members of Congress prefer to receive communication from
their constituents by fax or electronically, directly
through their own websites.
Please send a copy of your letter to Casa de la Luz Hospice
so we know what our congressmen are getting. This will help
us in further communication with them as well.
